Usually, guides to Palm OS devices cover the device itself first. If they cover the incidentals of using a Palm OS device at all, they do so only after covering the device’s designed-in functions.
This guide reverses this for two reasons. Firstly, you deserve to know what you are getting into: a pocket, for example, is a necessary piece of “infrastructure” to using a Palm OS device, and if you don’t generally have an available pocket you will need to choose between your preferred clothing style and using a Palm OS device. It is better to go in to the process knowing this than to incredulously discover it on your own. Secondly, trying to use a Palm OS device without these “extras” is more difficult than with, and pretending these are “optional” invites frustration.
This section, therefore, goes into the “extras” that will help make life without your Palm OS device inconceivable—because life with your Palm OS device is so much more pleasant.
