Data Entry

Desktop or Laptop PC

Finally, we come to the desktop or laptop PC as a way to enter data into your Palm OS device. While typing away into Palm Desktop and doing a HotSync does indeed get data into your Palm OS device, whether this is properly described as “entering data into your Palm OS device” is questionable.

On the other hand, desktop and laptop PCs are much more suited to text entry on a large scale than is a Palm OS device. If you are at your PC, it makes sense to do your text entry into the PC rather than into your Palm OS device. You can enter text directly into the Palm Desktop or the desktop companion application for the Palm OS application of interest. Alternately, you can use your favorite word processor to compose and edit text, then copy and paste it into Palm Desktop or the appropriate PC application.

Of course, if you were always at your PC, you would not need a Palm OS device, would you?
