Palm OS devices come with a number of built-in applications: Memo Pad, Date Book, Address Book, To Do List, and Calculator are the major standard built-in applications. Each device vendor can add other applications: Visor, for example, includes Date Book+ and City Time, while Palm includes Note Pad.
Each of these applications is obviously useful, and is useful even if used naively. However, many of these applications have features that combine in powerful, although not necessarily obvious, ways.
This section attempts to point out some of these combinations that are particularly useful.
Several of the built-in applications are supplied with Palm OS, and maintained as part on the operating system. These applications, like the operating system itself, acquire new features over time. The version of the built-in applications described here is 3.5, which is the minimum version present in currently shipping Palm OS devices. Some features may not be available on devices with an earlier version of Palm OS, such as the Palm III or the original (2-megabyte) Handspring Visor.
